Brianna Hanc; CCDT, CPDT-KA

Hi, I’m Bri!

I got my start in the professional world of pets with a sales job at PetCo in 2014. Quickly working my way through the ranks, I went on to work in upper level management at various retail stores with a common theme: they were all pet stores. It was clear to me then that animals were my true passion. After earning my Associates Degree in General Studies from Wharton County Jr College, I started down a path toward a career in the healthcare industry. It wasn’t long before it was clear to me that my love for working with animals and their owners was my true calling. I pivoted and began seeking opportunities in the training community and working toward varying levels of certification in dog training.

In November 2021 I completed the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Comprehensive Course and began my career as an acredited dog trainer. In May 2022 I earned my CCDT through CATCH Canine Trainers Academy Master Course as well as my CPDT-KA through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I have had the opportunity to work with some wonderful trainers, constantly learning on the job and in September 2022 I made the choice to start Fluency K9. I am excited for the future of dog training and the opportunity to work with more amazing clients in the Houston area.

I am also a certified AKC Evaluator and have successfully put several sport titles on my personal dog, an Australian Shepherd, Forte’s Heartbeat Kid BCAT SCN SIN RATN CGCA TKA VHMP aka Pulse.
I have also welcomed a Hungarian Mudi, Graves Farm’s Step Into The Unusual aka Strange! I am excited to venture into the sport world with a new breed and see what this little girl is into.

Training Philosophy

The dog training world tends to be one full of very big and very loud opinions on what is best, what is worst and everything in between. I am of the mind that it is most important to look at the dog in front of you, look at the lifestyle of the owner, look at the goals and intentions, and take all of that information to determine the best route for each individual client. It is my core belief that dog training should be truly individualized and is not one size fits all. Some dogs are simply loved pets and just need to know how to be good companions with basic manners. Other dogs and owners have lofty goals of being podium placing athletes in the canine sport world- and therefore require very different training protocols. While I believe that the basics are important for all dogs, I understand that the method, timing, and level to which skills are taught is going to be different for each dog and each owner. I make tailoring training to each specific client a priority.

It is my ultimate goal to create a bond between dog and owner so that both are getting everything they want out of their relationship. The end result of creating this type of relationship is a long, happy life where both owner and dog are enjoying being together and thriving in whatever situations they create. If at the end of the day I have clients who enjoy being with their dogs and dogs that enjoy being with their owners, I feel like I have done my job.

My focus and expertise in training is canine athletics and service dog training. While I continue to teach basics, my true passion is teaching owners and dogs the skills they need to become a dynamic team. Whether that is giving them the tools to earn sport titles or the training to allow a dog to serve their handler in the most competent and life-changing way.
